Bird is the word! Join us for the 12th annual Words For Birds, a two-part event celebrating all things avian for National Poetry Month. From noon till 1pm, poet Jim LaVilla-Havelin and writer Marisol Cortez will lead a workshop on nature/place writing.
From 1-3pm, writers from Stone in Stream/Roca en el Rio, a gathering of South Texas artists and writers advocating for environmental and social justice, will present bird-themed poems and prose. Both events will be held in the beautiful environs of Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, an urban nature jewel on San Antonio’s Southside. Readers include Jean Hackett, Jim Lavilla-Havelin, Marisol Cortez, and Patricia Keoughan, among others. Open mic will follow if time permits.
